Dancing with the Community During the Holiday Season
At this year’s Holiday Party, Three SAADA youth dancers from grades 5-7 brought a piece they choreographed themselves to a holiday gathering for local families in the IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) community.
This was the first time the students stepped onto a community service stage as creators. From initial ideas to repeated rehearsals and refinements, dance moved beyond classroom practice and became a way to share emotion, offer presence, and connect with others.
In a relaxed and joyful holiday atmosphere, movement and laughter filled the space. The dancers’ focus and sincerity added a quiet yet genuine sense of warmth to the evening.
SAADA strives to create opportunities like this for young people —
to grow through the arts, to understand the world through service, and to learn how to connect with others through dance.
